Fondazione Querini Stampalia

Querini Stampalia Foundation

Renaissance palace showcasing the family's historical art collection alongside contemporary works.

Highlights

Count Giovanni Querini Stampalia

The Foundation was established in 1869 as a result of his will: the library, gallery, medal collection and art objects are to be made available for public use.

Generous Library hours

The will further specified that the Library should remain open even on Sundays and holidays, a policy that remains in effect. Furthermore, entry is free of charge for anyone aged 16 and over.

Historic house museum

The immaculately restored palace offers a glimpse into the daily life of the epoch in which it was inhabited. As you wander beneath the stuccoed ceilings, you'll encounter rich furnishings and approximately 400 paintings.

Public life in Venice during the 1700s

Fascinating parades, state ceremonies, sacred liturgies, holidays and games all come to life in the 60 paintings by the 18th-century painter Gabriel Bella.

Intertwined modern architecture

Several spaces of the palace were redesigned by prestigious architects, among them Carlo Scarpa.
